Senior Director, Store Planning- Journeys

Job Summary

This position directs the overall construction management, organization, execution and operations for construction projects and related activities for Genesco Store Planning.

Job Responsibilities

  • Train, direct and assist project managers with procedures related to design, landlord, code, and inspectors.
  • Appoints project managers to assigned projects. Approves the selection of general contractors and job superintendents.
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating construction projects.
  • Extensive and independent contact with our vendors and national contractors.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination on projects between all disciplines.
  • Maintain professional and positive relationships with our national contractors, vendors, associates and landlords.
  • Periodic project site visits to review project schedule, criteria, compliance, quality of work, and prepare/administer punch lists to assure closure of all items.
  • Focus on cost reductions and savings.
  • Attend weekly meetings to apprise departments of project status.
  • Direct the project managers, architect, and vendors to work through landlord and city issues during plan approval.
  • Assist legal team in lease issues as they pertain to construction.
  • During construction, assist the project managers and GC's to work through landlord, design, and code/inspector issues.
  • Review change orders and invoices for accuracy.
  • Develop, train and coach department to meet business objectives.
  • Ensure all policies, protocols and procedures are followed.
  • Responsible for implementation of creating construction budgets and achieving them.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of architectural and engineering plans
  • Extensive knowledge of construction - specifically retail tenant applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Act as a link between operations, vendors, contractors, and architects
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to resolve conflicting situations and effective problem-solving skills
