The Assistant Manager, Maintenance/Facilities and Receiving together with the DC General Manager is responsible for preserving the value and functionality of the Johnston & Murphy Distribution Facility and adjoining properties including the Cotton Mill. The Assistant Manager responsibilities include managing the upkeep of all mechanical equipment, powered industrial trucks (tow motors, reach trucks, and cherry pickers, electrical circuits, electronic equipment, HVAC, fire prevention equipment (pump house and sprinklers), delivery vehicles, lighting, balers and compactors, landscaping, parking lots, and dock doors in good working order. The Assistant Manager also works closely with the GM on planning capital projects and monitoring progress and expenses. The Assistant Manager will assist in maintaining a safe working environment in all facilities. Operationally, they will be responsible for keeping the facility functioning with minimal downtime to provide all needed Distribution services to the Johnston & Murphy Division Buying, Merchandising, Retail Stores, and E commerce. The Assistant Manager will also oversee the day-to-day functions of the Receiving Department. They will work closely with the DC Sr. Operations Manager to deliver results related to receiving inventory.

Essential Job Functions:

• Assist in keeping all mechanical, electronic, electrical, HVAC, Energy Management, and hydraulic systems functional to meet Distribution Receiving and Fulfillment operational needs

• Responsible for the upkeep and cleanliness of all indoor and outdoor facilities including dock doors, gates, parking lots, and landscaping.

• Responsible for maintaining safety stock on parts, motors, drives, scanners, and fixtures to keep the DC's functioning with minimal downtime.

• Maintain a PM Schedule and assist in the performance of preventive maintenance on key pieces of equipment, belts, scanners, and conveyors to prevent downtime.

• Assist GM of Distribution to help plan and execute capital projects within timing and budgetary constraints, to preserve and enhance J &M Distribution assets.

• Works closely with HR, Distribution Management, and Distribution Associates on Safety and Compliance to reduce workplace injuries and lost time accidents.

• Focuses on "Green" initiatives such as paper and corrugated recycling, in addition to energy conservation with peak time load management.

• Responsible for all Maintenance and Controls at all facilities for the Energy Management System.

• Assist with the Emergency & Disaster Program

• Maintain compliance with the OSHA Standard for General Industry and Local Codes requirements

• Coordination and facilitation of Equipment Operator Training to include forklifts, scissor lift and WAVE equipment

• Oversees the day-to-day functions of the Incoming Receiving Inventory.

• Responsible for management of maintenance and receiving teams.

• Opening/Closure of the building and secured areas of the facility as needed

Knowledge and Skills:

• Detailed knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic systems.

• Expertise in Microsoft Office including Word and Excel.

• Ability to read, interpret, and understand mechanical and CAD/CAM drawings

• Knowledge of Distribution Operations including Receiving, Slotting, Putaway, Replenishment, Picking, Taping, and Shipping.

• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly.

• Effective communications with technical people (IT personnel, Engineers, and Consultants) on projects and equipment/systems downtime resolutions

• Understanding of the requirements of the OSHA Standard for General Industry

Education/Experience:

• High School degree with Technical School Training in Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Pneumatic, and Electronic Systems; Industrial Electrical Maintenance Certification or equivalent preferred

• 5 plus years of experience in fast-paced Retail Distribution Center.

• OSHA 30 HR General Industry Safety Certification
